Spring Bass Season: Where to Fish in Central Georgia
The Water’s Warming Up
Spring is prime time for largemouth bass in central Georgia. As water temperatures push past 60 degrees, the fish move shallow and start feeding aggressively ahead of the spawn. Here’s where we’re finding them this year.
Lake Sinclair
The grass beds on the north end are holding pre-spawn fish in 3-6 feet of water. Texas-rigged green pumpkin soft plastics have been the ticket, especially on overcast mornings. Switch to a spinnerbait when the wind picks up.
Lake Oconee
Main lake points and secondary points off creek channels are producing quality fish. A medium-diving crankbait in shad colors worked slowly along the bottom has been our most consistent producer.
Farm Ponds
Don’t sleep on the small water. Central Georgia’s farm ponds are loaded with healthy bass that rarely see pressure. A simple Senko pitched along the bank is all you need. Ask us in the shop for permission leads — we know a few landowners who welcome responsible anglers.
